An Independent Report

A report was commissioned and completed in June 2011 which looked at the performance and scope of the Local Area Partnerships and VCS Together in the North Norfolk District. The report, produced by MPCS can be downloaded here.

About us

Poppyland Partnership is one of seven local area Partnerships based on market towns in the North Norfolk area established with the support of North Norfolk District Council and the North Norfolk Community Partnership.

The Area Partnership covers the area of Cromer, Suffield Park and the Parishes of Aldborough, Aylmerton, East and West Runton, Felbrigg, Hanworth, Northrepps, Overstrand, Roughton, Sidestrand, Sustead and Trimingham.

Poppyland Partnership is about bringing together a whole range of influential organisations in the public, community and business sectors elected and non- elected, statutory and non-statutory bodies. Poppyland Partnership aims to find out what people in the area want and need and discover ways to make that happen, by developing local strategies, policies and projects.

Benefits of Partnership

  • The bringing together of representatives from all sectors of the community to improve communication and networking.
  • The opportunity to share ideas, similar issues and concerns and to develop joint and similar approaches and projects.
  • The more effective use of resources and funds through communities sharing and working together.
  • The opportunity to benefit from a “Community Chest” fund to support small projects developed at village and community level.
  • The provision of support in sourcing funding avenues for projects and assistance with project development.

The Partnership enables communities to have a stronger voice within the Local Strategic Partnership (the North Norfolk Community Partnership) to raise issues, concerns and strategies.

The Partnership, where there are issues of common interest and needs emerging, aims to facilitate, co-ordinate and present these with a stronger voice and give an opportunity for collaborative action.

Your voice is important to promote and improve the social, economic and environmental well-being of the Poppyland Partnership area.   Poppyland Partnership is based at Merchants’ Place, 16 Church Street, Cromer, NR27 9ES.

Heritage Open Day

On Thursday 14th April the Partnership hosted an Open Day at Merchants' Place in Cromer where local heritage and historical groups were exhibiting anything from fascinating documents and photographs of people and places to archaeological finds from even before we were here!

Mobile Skating Returns to Cromer

On Wednesday 20th April the Partnership welcomed about 65 boarders, skaters, BMXers and wall climbers to the Runton Road Car Park (behind the Blue Sky Cafe) in Cromer for the second of our mobile skate park days here in the town. We still want to keep the permanent park for Cromer on the top of the agenda for local youth initiatives and this is one way to demonstrate that we need a fixed site for all the many wheel enthusiasts.

Skating started at 11:00 a.m. and the 11-piece park included a half-pipe for all the daredevils. The lovely folks at Kingswood brought their climbing wall again which proved very popular for adventure seekers of all ages.

Ed Land has produced a video of the day which is available on YouTube.
